Question:

Does cutting roses harm the bush? Or do you need to trim the flowers off occasionally to keep it healthy?

Answer:

Removal of roses is usually referred to as deadheading. By removing the spent flowers, you prevent the plant from developing a rosehip, which contains its seeds. If the plant is allowed to seed it quits bloom production and moves into trying to produce "baby roses". So if you want to continue to have beautiful roses throughout the season it is best to deadhead. Remember after clipping spent blooms to clean up the bed in order to reduce the chance of diseases.
