Question:

Are green onions and scallions the same thing? Which part of the green onion are you supposed to use, the white or green part?

Answer:

Yes, they are. Scallion or green onion is a baby onion complete with a thin or rounding bulb.

Both the white or green parts may be used. The white bulb is stronger in taste than the green tops.
