Mark Bittman advocates a vegan diet

April 2nd, 2009 · No Comments

Mark Bittman - New York Times food columnist, best-selling cookbook author, food blogger, PBS food-show star - says “Our diets may be killing us, and they are not helping the environment, either.”

From greenhouse gases, to SUV stas, to health and weight loss, Mark advocates not veganism but a “less-meatarianism” approach, for himself and others who can’t go totally vegan.  As he says “even the smallest changes equals big changes.”

Did you know the best sources of omega-3 fats are vegan?

April 2nd, 2009 · No Comments

So says Virginia Messina in the Seattle Examiner. While many dietitians and nutritionists recommend fish oil supplements for non veg*ns, Virginia explains that fish get their omega 3 fats by eating microalgae, and people can get them the same way. She refers to a Canadian Medical Association Journal recommendation that says to not increase fish oil supplements and that the benefits are not as they are promoted to be.

Read Virginia’s post and feel good about what you already know and do as a vegan.
