Toe Food
by Danielle Rosenblatt

There once was a town that was made up of Toes
Where it has gone to, nobody knows
Rumor says many have since crawled away
But Toe Town was popular back in the day
The industrial center of many Toe-things
Polish and lotion and clippers and rings
All the Toes went there to get socks-ed and shoe-d
And when they were hungry they all ate Toe-Food
Naturally Toe-Food's the food of the Toes
But where the "D" went to, nobody knows
They woke up for breakfast with a multi-Toe yawn
To find in the kitchen the Toe-Food was gone!
And all that was left was just simply "Toe-Foo"
The Toemen and women knew not what to do
So they called up the press and soon everyone knew
The Toes from all over said "This can't be true!"
They offered rewards for return of the "D"
The Elders and Toe-tots said "How can this be?"
"Can we still eat it? But how will it taste?"
"If we don't try it will all go to waste!"
They searched for the "D" but with little success
The people in Toe Town were quite in distress
Many years passed-it has long disappeared
Some say it was snatched by some Toe with a beard
But now the Toes it eat and without the "D"
They say it's delicious and all Toes agree
In fact, everyone likes it, not only the Toes
It's not hard to find it wherever one goes
They took out the "oo" s and they added a "u"
Cause Toe-fu is scrumptious and you'll like it too!

In honor of all of the vegetarians and health nuts out there, Danielle Rosenblatt wrote this poem about tofu called "Toe Food"--a fable about the origin of tofu.
