Book ReviewPregnancy, Children, and the Vegan Dietby Michael Klaper, M.D. Review by Erin Pavlina Pregnancy, Children, and the Vegan Diet is an important book to read if you have children. Frankly, it's indispensable. When I first became pregnant, my family was very concerned about good nutrition for me and the baby. I was happy to find this book and more pleased that it really covered nutrition well during a vegan pregnancy. Because of this book and all I have learned from it, I have been able to allay the fears of my family and my Obstetrician.Article continues below The book covers all the vitamins and minerals you will need during a vegan pregnancy, and offers many sample recipes to ensure a healthy and varied diet. The book also contains stories of parents raising vegan children which are nice to read. How to feed your vegan child from infancy to childhood is also covered in good detail. I know that when our baby begins eating solids I will be referring to this book often. Pregnancy, Children, and the Vegan Diet is one of the few books available on vegan pregnancy. I am thankful to Dr. Klaper for writing it and hope other vegan authors will also follow suit. |
