See full index of questions Scientific research does not confirm nor deny the safety of wheatgrass juice during pregnancy. However because the body is in such a state of change and the baby takes all its nutrients (and contaminants) from the mom, to be on the safe side I would recommend avoiding wheat grass juice during pregnancy. Wheatgrass is one of those foods that is not monitored by health officials in the way that more traditional foods (grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, packaged foods) are. Thus, there is a higher risk of contamination. Also, since the juice is so concentrated, there is a possibility (however slight) that the body will have a reaction, putting the baby at risk. If you’ve had some shots already, don’t panic, as it is probably safe, but my advice is to avoid it for the remainder of your pregnancy and lactation. |
