Hi Everyone...

I am trying to conceive my first child and have read some info about soy milk having an negative impact on conception.

Just wondering if any of you conceived while eating soy milk, or soy yoghurt etc?

thanks:)

Never heard of that...didn't apply to me ;)
Soymilk has no effect either way. Where'd you read that?

I doubt any of the vegan moms here had a problem getting pregnant while drinking soy milk.

I actually was eating soy milk & banana smoothies every morning for breakfast for about a year before I became pg with dd#1. We were trying very hard not to get pg at the time, although soymilk certainly wasn't part of my strategy ;) !

We've been so fertile that birth control has been largely ineffective for us and dh had a vasectomy after getting pg a second time while using mutiple forms of birth control.

I drink soy like it's going out of style, and I found out I was 8 weeks preg by surprise. I had no problem with this baby.

My doc said that soy is great, and that the protein it gives is very important. It's good stuff!

Thanks Girls, I really appreciate your replys. I eat buckets of soy milk and soy yoghurt.

I heard about it in a magazine article and did some research on the web. Nothing sounded conclusive....

Weil I am in Australia and it is 8:30am on Sunday morning so....time for a soy, decaf latte!!!!!

wish me luck for a speedy conception!!!

i saw an article on netscape.com last week that said something about if youre trying to conceive that both men adn women shouldnt consume soy. they said men shouldnt because of the estrogen in soy and it would lower their sperm count or something. i had already thought the study was silly even before that point.
the next paragraph said that women shouldtn consume soy because it would kill the sperm before they had a chance to reach the egg, on the same idea of the estrogen in soy. by then, i figured that the study was paid for by the dairy/meat industry because it just sounded so ridiculous!

I don't know where all this soy and infertility info comes from but long before I became vegetarian I stopped drinking regular milk. DH drinks it too. We're expecting our second "oops" child in Nov.

BTW, China anyone? They don't seem to be experiencing a down turn in population despite govt. efforts.

Yeah, if you're looking *for* infertility, try some real cow milk pumped full of steroids, hormones, antibiotics, and the possible CJD that no one knows for sure if it's transmitted through cow breast milk or not.

Crazy people and their soy bashing.

One word...that applies to EVERYthing:
Moderation

I regularly have soy yogurt 2 or 3 times a week with my lunch and eat oodles more for meals and such. I was thinking soy products would continue to be good pregnancy eats, so I enjoyed reading these posts...and was relieved by the consensus that soy is gud fud...!

I wrote an article on soy for Erin :) that will be on vegfamily, I believe, sometime in the next few months. I didn't address infertilty in particular, but did discuss quite a few of the allegations thrown around about soy -- keep an eye out ;).
