Looking for a vegan-friendly ob/gyn

I had a question for anyone out there who might know. I'm very newly pregnant, just about five weeks, and my doctor is already giving me trouble about being a vegan. I'd like to switch doctors but don't know where to start searching for a vegan-friendly one. Any advice? I live in Santa Monica.

Hello, I'm in Los Angeles and might be able to think of someone for you.

Here's what I would do if I lived in Santa Monica. Contact Dr. Fleiss or Dr. Jay Gordon, although neither are OB's, one is a pediatrician and I think the other is or is a general practitioner. But both are hip to the vegan thing. Ask them for a recommendation. I'll bet they can help. If you don't get help from them, ask me again and I'll help you find someone.

What about San Diego? Anyone know a vegan friendly OB?

You can also contact any midwives in your area. I think it's rare to find a midwife who would not support being Vegan and they usually know who the vegan/vegetarian friendly OB's and MD's would be in that area.

Hi Bamboozlo. I'm in San Diego, too. My OB hasn't given me any trouble about being vegan, but I think she's secretly leary, so I don't know if I'd recommend her. She just keeps talking about combining proteins and stuff. I'm actually looking for a good pediatrition around here. I'm due on April 7th with my first, so I don't already have a pediatrition. If anyone has any recommendations on that, please let me know!

By the way, where are you in San Diego? I'm in the Mission Hills area.
