Okay, I'm a little worried here. Just this morning I had some pretty serious spotting, actually bright red and scary. I phoned the Dr. and the nurse said this was pretty common - has anyone else had spotting like this before? I'm early in the preg. about 6 weeks.

I spotted a lot the first three months - especially around when I would normally have been getting my period. It was nothing to worry about but each time it happened my doctor did see me right away (I think just to calm my nerves!) I'm now 7 months and have had no problems. The books all say to just lay down with your feet up and take it easy - I don't think that does a thing for the baby but it should help you to relax.

Bright red blood is definitely more of a concern than dark brown blood (old blood). I don't have any experience with spotting, myself, but the books say that is a sign of a possible impending miscarriage. HOWEVER... you may be fine too. It's probably too early to tell.
Keep us posted. rest with your feet up. Don't have sex either as that can sometimes trigger a little spotting.

I had the same kind of spotting at 6 weeks. I stayed on my back for 4 days with my feet up until it stopped. Just relax, but if you feel any cramping, call your Dr. immediately.

I had spotting this pregnancy, too. It was at about 7 weeks. It was mostly brown, but was red right after a bowel movement. I was sure it was over, but they had me come in for an ultrasound and we saw the heartbeat. It lasted 3 days and then stopped. Has yours stopped yet? As someone else said, if you're also cramping then that's more of a worry. Good luck! Lot's of women spot, so don't worry too much about it.

Well, my spotting is still going on for day three, and needless to say I am really worried. Why did this have to happen on the weekend?!! I'm going to beg grovel and plead my way in to the Dr.'s on Monday to find out what the heck is going on. I hate to say it, but I am assuming the worst. :(
I'll keep everyone posted and THANK YOU for all of your encouragement and support.

Lisa, I hope the doc can give you a definitive answer. He'll probably do an HCG blood test to see if your levels are going up appropriately.
My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I was disappointed, to say the least, but we started trying again as soon as we could and I was pregnant again less than a year later.
Let us know what happens!

Well, it wasn't the news I was hoping for, but at least I finally know. Went in to the Dr.'s this morning and got the definitive answer that yes, I am having a miscarriage. Thank you everyone for your support and I hope to be posting on this board again soon.
You guys have been great -

I'm so sorry. I've had 2 miscarriages, so I have some idea of the pain you're going through. They say that you're extra fertile after a m/c, and I did get pregnant immediately after I had an early loss, so maybe you'll be back here soon.

Lisa,
I'm sorry to hear the bad news. We are ALL here to support you.
A good friend of mine had a miscarriage the first time she was pregnant, and it was tough on her, but she now has a beautiful girl. I believe that nature will give you the perfect baby in time... don't give up trying.
Best Regards,
EricP
