I know this is far-fetched, but I have a very good friend in Chico, CA who is pretty much confined to her home due to not only Rheumatoid Arthritis, but no one to take her anywhere. She has three grown kids with families of their own, and they don't make much time for her. I've been doing a lot of research on Rheumatoid Arhritis and strongly believe that she may be able to stop the progression of it, and maybe even reverse it somewhat through diet. She'd eat a vegan diet if she had someone to cook for her, as she has to spend most of her time in bed. She relies on "meals on wheels" for 5 dinners a week, but they only have one vegetarian meal (tons of options for beef & chicken) and I doubt it's very healthy. If I lived there, I'd cook for her in a heartbeat, and juice wonderful organic fruit and veggies for her. What I'm hoping to find is maybe a church group who might consider something like this as missionary work and cook some meals for her, or maybe even take care of her. I think her caretaker right now (who doesn't know a thing about healthy cooking) gets paid from the state. I don't really know how it works. If any of you know anyone who lives in Chico who may consider this, I'd even kick in some money for ingredients. Like I said, I know it's a long shot, but it can't hurt to check around. If you have any suggestions, bring 'em on.
