I have read so many places that you should not eat sprouts when you are pregnant. But I've had this tremendous craving for a sandwich with lots of sprouts, sauteed mushrooms, lettuce, tofutti mozzarella, and italian dressing on toasted garlic bread. It's just something I keep envisioning in my mind. Is it really bad to eat sprouts when you're pregnant?

How about if you make your own sprouts? Contaminated water is the problem, so if you carefully make your own I'm sure you'll be fine- I ate my own when preggers but avoided bought ones, just in case.

Alfalfa sprouts are pretty lightweight unless you compress them together tightly. Even if two ounces of homegrown sprouts is your max you can eat a pretty big sandwichful of them.
