Does anyone know of a good shampoo? I have been using Jason Apricot Keratin, but my hair never feels clean...even after the two latherings the bottle says are necessary. It smells so good, but I wonder if it's worth the price. Does anyone else have a problem with this? Does my hair just need to adjust? I have heard some people use Dr. Bronners liquid soap as a shampoo. I already use the bar and like it, but hesitate to spend $$$ on a bottle of the liquid stuff until I know if it will work for my purposes. For the time being I am using up the last of the Jason stuff...I don't want to waste it.

There are some mainstream shampoos that are vegan.
Go to http://www.vegfamily.com/lists/cruelty-free-companies.htm and check the list.

I use ABBA (for 5 years now I think) and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I usually ruin my hair with really harsh dyes and bleachings but once I started using ABBA my hair softened and is nice and managable. The only thing is that it is pricey because you can only really get it at a salon. (But I have seen it at Rite-Aid though, not sure how they got it) However, you don't really have to use that much. Although I am disappointed that ABBA has created a line of body washes and lotions that are not vegan.
Why are you washing your hair twice? You don't always have to unless it is really grimey. Also some people use far too much shampoo and conditioner, you only need like a dime sized amount depending on the length of hair.

Thanks for the responses.
Erin, I will check out the list of vegan mainstream shampoos.
duckie...I was only washing it twice because the bottle said to do a "pre-wash" which would produce a light lather (it didn't) and then a "super wash" that would get the stubborn grime. I usually never followed the lather, rinse, repeat advice on regualar shampoos, but this one didn't feel like it did anything until the second time around...my hair would still feel oily and dirty (I have oily hair to begin with) even though it is pretty short. I would use only a tiny amount for each lathering session. I don't mind paying more for something if it works well. The ABBA shampoo sounds nice. It's too bad they have added some non vegan products to their line, but there's only so much we can do. Thanks again for the reply.

From Erin's list of Cruelty Free Companies, we use the lavender shampoo from Avalon Organic Botanicals. They're mostly organic, no SLS, etc, and I actually know what most of the ingredients on the label are! Not to mention it smells heavenly. If you have a Trader Joe's near you, you can sometimes find it there at a reasonable price. Otherwise it's usually going to cost you $$, unfortunately.
