I'm a 22 yr/ old female who has been a l-o veg for over 6 years. I finally made the move to vegan last week. My question is, how did your body adjust to the switch? I've noticed that-

- I'm hungry less often
- I become full faster (example for dinner last night I had broccoli (vegan butter), and 4 Morning Star Chic Nuggets. By the time I was done with that, I couldn't even look at my corn on the cobb without getting nausious. Not only do I get full faster, I feel sick to my stomach (temporary of course). It's almost like the "Stop Eating!" reflex works better now.
This same thing has happened with every meal I've had since the switch.

2. More energy. This could also be from exciting changes in life (new job, new house same time as switch). Easier time waking up in the morning.

I'm not sure that Morning Star chick nuggets are vegan. Check the package again. Look for whey or casein or something. Anyone else know for sure?

Secondly, the first week I was vegan I had a detox situation going on. But it wasn't too bad. I had a lot more energy, my stomach troubles vanished, aches and pains vanished, it was awesome!

Aww man, that feels like someone saying my soup was made with chicken broth!

I should have thought to check those.

Yeah, when I first went vegan we accidentally ate a lot of things with hidden animal ingredients, or ingredients we weren't sure were vegan. It just takes time and experience.

I checked. Not Vegan at all. In fact, I'm not sure if anything morningstar is vegan.

Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't think MorningStar made vegan products. I wish their corn dogs were vegan cuz those look awesome. :)

Health is Wealth makes Chick-Free nuggets. We eat those a lot. Great with barbecue sauce.

Where do you guys buy your food? Online? The health food stores around here barely carry anything. No frozen food. Veg. Gravy, organic noodles, vitamins and things like that.

p.s. Even though I haven't been truly vegan all this time (all vegan minus the chic nuggets.. i think...), my body is adjusting better now.

I live in Los Angeles so there are a plethora of stores around her who carry stuff we need. I've even seen natural foods showing up in Ralphs and Vons, etc.

Here's my advice:
1. You may not be aware of all the vegan frozen foods in there. It's usually a very small section. Ask the store manager if they carry a selection of vegan foods.

2. If they don't, ask the store to carry vegan foods for you. They may be able to special order it too. Ask at a high end store. They're more likely to accommodate you.

3. Call the companies who make the foods you're interested in and ask them where to find them in your area.

Start moving mountains and the food will come to you.

When I went vegan like everyone else I had more energy, ect. but one weird thing was that my joints hurt a lot for about the first week of being vegan. I think it's because went vegan "cold-turkey." It only lasted a week though and it's never happened again in 2 years. Well 2 years November 17th. ;)

My response was quite different.

I was hungry all the time. I now eat 4 times a day.
I lost 45 pounds in about 5 months.

I have more "mental energy" throughout the day - I don't feel as sluggish. But when it comes to very strenuous aerobic exercise I've had more difficulty in maintaining optimum performance, but that just might be my own fault in not choosing the right foods the night before and morning of. (8-9 hour hikes in the mountains)
