Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me more examples of vegan foods that are higher in calorie and fat content. I haven't been a vegan for long and am not finding it difficult as far as missing meat/dairy products but, I don't feel as if I'm consuming enough calories to keep my energy up. I also am also raising my two yr old son as a vegan and want to make sure he is getting enough calories/fats too. I've had a hard time finding resources that mention anything other than peanut butter, avocadoes, or dried fruit and would like a wider variety to choose from. So any suggestions? And they don't need to be 100% healthy or organic, just vegan.
Thanks.

A few of the higher calorie foods that my three vegan children (ages 9, 4, and nearly 2) enjoy include: bananas, almonds, almond butter, pistachios, oatmeal raisin cookies (use soy margarine to bake), and granola. You can also find a few brands of organic, vegan energy bars (we like Clif and Luna) to keep in your purse for snacks. I also like to add olive oil or soy margarine to veggies while I am cooking, which increases their fat and calorie content.

Welcome! I wouldn't add fats just to be adding fats (i.e. adding "unhealthy" things just to get extra calories). If you provide a well-rounded diet for your child, he'll be fine. Make sure he's getting some ground flax seeds or flax oil too (good source of fat, btw) for his omega-3's ... and yours too!
