One of my really good friends who lives in Cleveland (I'm in Texas) is having a hard time. She is 23, mother of a 1 year old, and just recently left a bad relationship. She is going back to school, and only has a year left to get her bachelor's.
I really want to help her, but I am at a loss for what to do. I am a student, so I have no money to send. I'm not close enough for babysitting or anything.
Any suggestions you have are appreciated.

Forgot to mention that because she left the relationship, she also left her apartment, and does not have a job. She is staying temporarily with a family member, but that situation is not good either.

My hokie idea:
get one of those blank journal books from the dollar store (usually 2 for a dollar). Fill it with articles that make you think of her, poems that remind you of her (or an original from yourself), rememberances of silly times you shared, pictures of the two of you, basically anything that says "I care about you".
sometimes what someone needs more than a ten dollar bill, is someone encouraging and caring enough to say, "hey, you're in my thoughts and I'm in your corner".

You could put together a care package of sorts with stuff like candy, a few little things for her kid, a nice book to read and include a note you wrote, that kind of thing.
