Just wondering what you ladies feed your toddlers for breakfast. Emily like oatmeal best, but only if her daddy makes it. I pretty much suck at making oatmeal. She also likes waffles, fruit, and toast with margarine.

And she really digs tofu scramble!

What do your toddlers eat?

My ds also loves oatmeal, although I can't get my dh to make it, lol. He also likes Lifestream Flax waffles, buckwheat pancakes, Cheerios, french toast, vegan bacon. Sometimes he'll just eat fruit though.

Oh yeah, we also give Emily soy flax waffles from Van's. Great product. 1200mg of Omega 3's in each serving. Phew!

My son, 20 months, calls his dry breakfast cereal "snack" and he also eats a bananna and drinks soy milk. He likes to eat part of my bagel with tofuti cream cheese and blueberry fruit spread on top. Sometimes he eats the organic multigrain baby cereal mixed with soymilk and applesauce. VM

My toddler will only eat scrambled tofu or pierogies for breakfast. We've tried cereal, oatmeal, toast (which occasionally gets an ok) pancakes, waffles, french toast, muffins, etc. He'll only eat pierogies or scrambled tofu. So that's what he has. :D

My 20 mo usually has cereal w/ either soy milk, rice milk, or almond milk. And sometimes he'll eat some of our sprouted wheat bagel w/ margarine. He loves oatmeal w/ a lil bit of maple syrup, but we usually give that to him as a mid-afternoon snack instead of having it for breakfast. He's had homemade whole wheat pancakes and tofu scrambles a few times, and those he enjoyed, but we're a "cereal-for-breakfast" lovin' family, LOL.

He's almost 20 months. And now he drinks part of his daddy's smoothie in the am. That's something, right?

my 15 mo old baby girl eats whatever! Sometimes we have fresh kiwi or peaches and I just peel and slice a bit and she eats the whole thing. Sometimes we do toast, but not too often unless it's ezekiel bread or whole grains. She's not too keen on cereals (cold w/soymilk) and I hate oatmeal, so we've never had any to even offer her so far! She has however, eaten pinto beans, leftover rice, plain tortillas, cold baked potato, frozen blueberries and even raw pine nuts for breakfast depending on what we had around! We are trying to move toward natural hygiene however, so the ideal breakfast for all of us would be a piece of fresh fruit ;)
HTHs...

Usually my 19 month old will ask for "chock-lit" (chocolate) first thing in the morning  , but once I tell her she can't have chocolate for breakfast, she settles for cereal and soymilk. She also loves tofu scrambler, but we only ever seem to have that on the weekends. Sarah will try just about anything; from muffins to hashbrowns or waffles or Luna bars ("lala bars" to her). She's not a picky eater at all, so I guess I should be glad about that. Now if only I could break her addiction to lollipops and Tropical source's chocolate bars!

mum2sarah, that cracked me up..."chock-lit"...sounds familiar. Lately, my 3 y/o has been asking for a snack first thing in the morning. She kind of covers her mouth and says
"I want a snack" really fast as if she thinks she can trick us into getting one for her. ;)

She usually has some kind of healthy cold cereal w/soy or rice milk, fresh fruit and maybe some soy yogurt. Sometimes, if she doesn't want yogurt, I make "Gimme Lean" sausage for her. Often, she has pancakes or waffles on the weekend. I make wholewheat ones with flaxseed meal, and sometime throw almond meal in if she's not having some other form of protein. She likes pure maple syrup on top, although I'm trying to get her to try applesauce on top...that's how I used to like them when I was a kid.

Erin, that's funny about Emily only eating her dad's oatmeal. Summer has only had warm cereal a couple of times..one of them being when her dad made cream of wheat. I tried, and she wouldn't eat. The other time she had warm cereal, her grandma made her oatmeal w/dates. Since then, she hasn't wanted it again.

My 19 month old eats just about anything! From oatmeal, to veggie "sausages", you name it. She also like tofu scrambles, pancakes, FRUIT!!!, toast with vegan margarine and lot's more.

And if she doesn't like something.... I just take a mouthful and she'll want some  Kids! LOL

My 22-month old son likes oatmeal with raisins and soy milk, cold cereal with soy milk (I was surprised to discover recently that he prefers cereals with less sugar--yay!), frozen waffles of any variety, whole-grain pancakes, and fruit. Sometimes he refuses anything but fruit. He also likes fruit smoothies, into which I put either flax oil, or flax seed ground up in a coffee grinder. He also like Natural Ovens' muffins and bagels, plain. Does anyone else get their products, outside of the midwest? They are a Wisconsin-based company which makes all vegan baked goods with flax seeds, whole grains, and all natural ingredients. We love their stuff. All the mainstream groceries here in Illinois carry the brand.

Tofu scramble sounds great. Anyone have a good recipe? That's one thing we haven't tried yet.

ArwenA,
For tofu scrambler, I just use a mix sold by Fantastic foods. It comes in a box and all you do is add crumbled tofu and pan fry. It's delicious! Sometimes I add onions, veggie bacon bits, or hashed browns. Erin also has a recipe listed in her book on how to make tofu scrambler without a mix. It think it's just basically vegetables of your choice, onion powder and turmeric. I'm sure you could experiment and taylor something to your liking.

We use the box from Fantastic foods too. So easy and fast.

Hubby likes to add tomatoes and peppers to his tofu scramble.

I finally tried the Fantastic Foods Tofu Scramble, and it's SO delicious. My little guy (almost 2) scarfed it right up and wanted more, more, more. My daughter (5) was a bit more picky, but she loves tofu prepared other ways.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Glad you liked it! Thinking about it makes me wish I'd bought a box when I went grocery shopping yesterday! It really is delicious and very simple to prepare.

My girl eats blueberrie whole grain waffles topped with flax oil, followed by fruit, and sometimes, after that, she eats optimum power flax cereal with soymilk. Seems like alot, but she has a racing metabolism like her daddy.I am lucky, she loves healthy food, and will eat tofu scramble, grilled potatoes, vegi sausage.... whatever I make!

My son who is 4, loves oatmeal, so that's what he eats just about everyday except for the occasional Cheerios with soy milk or Saturday's when daddy makes waffles. My daughter on the other hand is 21 months old and very picky, so usually I give her a choice and let her choose, between oatmeal, waffles, toast, fruit, or this morning she pulled the cauliflower out of the fridge and wanted some of that, I wasn't about to say no to a toddler wanting cauliflower! lol

Wildflower, I love that your "picky" eater chose cauliflower for breakfast!

My 4yo eats oatmeal or grape nuts w/ raisins or weetabix ... all with soymilk on top, of course! Plus toast with soy spread and ground flax seeds. Plus o.j. mixed with plain silk yogurt.

my 4 year old loves to eat her bagels with "cream cheese". She also loves her cereal in the morning. Oatmeal with some fruit ( preferable bananas.) or the Van flaxseed waffels or the ones with blueberries in them.:D

Well, I'm starting to figure out that with her it has nothing to do with the food itself, it's a power thing, she wants to be in control, so I always try to have heathy choices for her, so no matter what she "picks" it will be something good. But yeah, the cauliflower did surprise me... lol.

My 16 month old daughter has a banana every morning with her breakfast, and either flaxjacks (pancakes with ground flaxseeds), oatmeal (apple cinnamon or flax n' oats), soymilk, and she LOVES fakin' bacon. She will eat tofu scrambles if I make them. She also likes Van's wheat free blueberry waffles.

My 19 month old eats organic O's (dry) some fruit usually 1/2 banana with seeds removed or applesauce. Occasional flax waffles with nut butter and a little fruit spread. She loves grapes, pear slices, sometimes orange slices. She might drink a little almond milk or a mix of 1/2 apple 1/2 carrot juice. Seldom do we eat the oatmeal, because takes more time :( And although we have cut way back on soy, she still likes tofu scramble, we sometimes make (out of "how it all vegan").

I have wanted to add more variety lately; does anyone remember a potato/kale pancake recipe? I thought I saw it here...they made a great snack, and now I can't find the recipe.

Jenna

FYI apples have the highest incidence of pesticides so we always buy organic, and I recently learned that soy phytoestrogens (sp?) can be harmful, look into it and form your own opinion.
