I remember reading some posts here a few weeks ago about the BK Veggie Burger and how it was decent and vegan. I don't eat fast food but was curious and went to the BK sight. This is the ingredients for the veggie burger but note what it says at the end. Is it vegan or not?

There are no animal derived ingredients, so the burger is technically vegan. But Burger King claims not to cater to vegetarians or vegans, that they came out with the burger so that meat eaters would have a different choice of burger to eat. So, I guess to sum it up, its a veggie burger with no animal ingredients. I know its vague, but Burger King is vague on purpose. But yeah, youre fine eating the BK veggie burger, as long as you have them hold the special sauce.

The other reason they say it isn't vegan is because it is probably cooked on the same grill as meat. They have to cover their butts.

That line confused me and I spent an entire day getting in touch with their customer service people (long distance calls too!). The woman was really obnoxious too about the fact that BK does not cater to vegetarians or vegans. I asked her then, "why have a meatless patty?" apparently it is for meat eaters who choose not to eat meat. But like Erin said, it is to cover their butts, in case the recipe changes or whatever. It saves them from lawsuits.

Also if you buy it, make sure that it is cooked "off the grill"! It will be microwaved but not cooked on the grill with the meat burgers.
