I've recently become vegetarian, it's been since the end of June (2002). I haven't completely gone the extra mile(s) to become vegan, except that I don't drink milk any longer.
The thing is, I can't help but wonder if I'm healthy enough or not. I'm currently breastfeeding my 22 month old son, and I take a prenatal vitamin and a calcium. Should I step up my vitamins? What should I look for as warning signs of my health being not so great? Last weekend I didn't feel very good -- I had this "tinny" feeling in my tummy and it made me rather jumpy. It was a metallic type of feeling. I am also thinking that I should see my doctor, but I don't have a doctor who I trust to make good decisions about my health. I mean, how many doctors in the mainstream are taught about veganism and vegetarianism?
I'm having a really hard time making vegetarian foods since everything is so new and I don't know what a lot of the words are, how the stuff tastes and whatnot. Basically for dinner I've been eating soyburgers along with veggies and some type of carb, like pasta or potatoes.
Help!
