Does anyone know if friend foods such as onion rings, breaded mushrooms, etc. are typically made with either dairy or eggs in the batter?

I've asked at several places and some indicate there are eggs, some don't know, and some "seem" sure there there are no diary or eggs. Isn't there something about that batter in general that makes it more likely than not that it has diary and/or eggs?

Thank you,
Aaron

I believe "breaded" items are usually put in egg to make the breading stick. I bet most restaurants just get big boxes of the frozen items and have no idea what's in it.

another thing we have to watch, is when a place says they fry fries in vegetable oil, when actually the fries come in bulk pre-dipped in what is often animal fat. We stick to a place once we find out it's ok! But if it's somewhere we haven't been, we ask to see the pack the fries arrived in. Maybe you could do this with the mushrooms and onion rings too.
