I have tried a few different caramel apple recipes, but I have the same problem with all of them: almost all of the caramel sauce drips off of the apple after it is put onto the wax paper. Does anyone have a recipe where this is not a problem?

Every year, we go to the pumpkin patch and my kids always yearn for a caramel apple. Please help!

Here's one I got from another site a long time ago. I haven't tried it so I can't vouch for it. Let me know how it goes!

Caramel Apples

2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
1/3 cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla
Apples on sticks

Put sugar, syrup and water into a saucepan over direct heat.
Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved, then
cook without stirring to 250 F (use candy thermometer).
Add margarine and cook to 280 F for soft texture,
or to 300 F for hard texture.
Remove from heat, and add vanilla.
While candy is still soft, dip apples and coat.
Cool on wax paper or greased plate.

Thanks. I'll try it as soon as my current batch of caramel apples are gone.
