I'm absolutley new to this baby thing, and I've been planning on alternating between cloth and disposable. How do they work, though? I mean, how do you wash them, etc??
I really want to use them, but I'm just confused!

I used to rinse them out over the potty, and then toss them in a diaper pail full of water and baking soda until I washed them (usually every third day).
I use a dry pail. Just dump the solids into the toilet and put the dirty diaper in the pail. I wash them every other day with just a little bit of Allens Naturally detergent, since it's concentrated. You can't smell it usually unless you've got your face in the pail, but for when you can, I mixed together 1/4 cup of baking soda, 25 drops of tea tree oil, and a few drops of lavender oil. I put it in a shaker and shake some in the pail if it starts to smell.

Check out the cloth diapering boards at the Mothering.com discussion forums. Also do some searches through google and read some of the WAHM's great descriptions of how the cloth diapering systems can work and why you should do it over disposables.

Hi Greenie,
A good website for cloth diaper info is diaperpin.com. They cover everything from cleaning to diaper reviews, which can be helpful. As far as cleaning cloth diapers, you have to decide what is right for you (wet pail or dry pail). Another good website for cleaning tips and tricks is greenmountaindiapers.com. I hope this is helpful, these websites helped me a lot.
