Hi everyone,

I am currently taking DHA capsules (Omega-Zen) and I wanted to start giving them to my daughter. She is too young to swallow them, so I wanted to break them open and put the liquid in her cereal. Do any of you know whether the capsule is necessary or is it just becasue DHA in liquid form tastes bad?
Thanks!

The easiest way to get DHA and omega-3's into a baby is flax seed oil. My kids get 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day mixed in with their rice milk.

I don't think the capsule is neccesary, (I'm pretty sure it's not) It's the stuff on the inside that counts. i would contact the manufacturer to make sure. Does anybody know a link to research done on conversion of ALA to DHA in the body. I've been researching this extensively and right now no articles or journals that I have looked at state that the conversion rate is efficient. I found that women convert better than men. The conversion rate is about 36% to 18% in men. But other than that I'm at a loss. Help would be much appreciated!
