I know this folder is pretty dead, but here we go...

This is a thread to rant about negative (or positive!) responses to your veganism.

Today, for example, my mother and I went to the grocery store. I brought up the fact that tomorrow is my very good friend's birthday and I plan on making him cookies. I got a disgusted look and, "Your vegan cookies or regular cookies?" Needless to say, I was hurt and offended.

I used to be hurt and offended by comments like that and then I realized that when someone says something that rude they are the ones with the issue, not me. So I try to mirror it back to them.

For example, if my mom said that to me, I would have said, "Oh that's weird... it sounded for a second like you were trying to hurt my feelings, but you're my mom and you wouldn't intentionally do that would you?"

Or

"Were you intending to say something mean and rude or did you just slip up a little?" And smile... that's importnat. ;)

I live in a house with 2 heavy meat eaters (dad and bro) they are always picking on me for being vegan i just say some revolting slaughter fact and they back down, i think deep down they are proud of me lowl :D
