What do you guys think about giving your youngsters soy and soy formulas?
As for me I'm not a great fan of soy!!
Here's my young girl Ava.

My children eat some soy (tofu, tempeh, soy milk), but it isn't their only source of concentrated protein. I didn't feed them too many protein sources other than my milk until they were close to a year old in any case and then I started with soft cooked beans, nutritional yeast and veggie burgers made with brown rice and veggies.
I wouldn't give a baby any kind of formula if possible, but don't personally think that soy formula is any worse than cow's milk formula.

As for soy formula, I'm a firm believer in Mama milk. :)
As for other soy foods, we use soy milk, mostly in cooking and on cereal, although ds will often have a cup of it at lunch. We like tempeh and tofu, but they don't agree with us in large quantities. We may be phasing tofu out, but we're discovering that if we divide 1/2 package of tempeh 3 ways, we seem to tolerate it ok. I think soy is a nutritous legume (it is a legume, isn't it? :p), and I would have no problem eating it if it agreed with us. Pinto beans in large quantities don't agree with us either - its not just a soy thing! ;)

I'm with Vegma - you can't beat breast milk. I'm lucky I've never been in a position when I've had to consider formula milk, but I'd certainly steer away from dairy.
All my children consume tofu, soya milk and other soya products but not in enormous quantities. Even my 9-month-old has tried tofu and soya milk as a small part of her diet. None of us have ever had any problems with it.

soy formula isnt vegan (see the pregnancy section on here)and all babies need is their mamas milk anyways. when my dd is old enough for solids i wont be giving her soy, at least not for a long time and when i do it will just be tempeh and tofu..things not so processed. she has eczema wich could mean she'll have food allergies so i have to be extra careful.

I believe in mama milk too. BUT my dd had other plans at 10 months and from 11-12 month I had no choice but to give her soy formula full time. :( I do soy milk now since a year but I don't have a problem with some soy but she doesn't eat a lot of other processed soy products though. She gets lots of beans and nut butters to fill in protein from other sources.
My theroy is soooo many doing soy in asian countries and their low cancer risks just seem to prove any "harmful" qualitiies in soy being false but I respect anyone's decisions. :)
Oh and dd is also lactose intolerant so we really didn't have much other options. ;)
