batteries

I was just wondering if anyone knows if having a battery operated mobile in my babies bed is bad for him, I read somewhere that the radiation is really bad.

The other day the batteries started leaking inside the mobile, thank goodness it couldn't actually leak out onto his bed or onto him, but I got a bit scared and started wondering if I should take it out of his bed, the only thing is that he loves it so much.
What would you do?

I haven't heard of any problems with regular batteries and radiation problems. But leaking batteries are a problem. If you can figure out whether he likes the music, motion, or just that there's something to look at you might be able to come up with a replacement that worries you less (CD player elsewhere in the room for music, or a still mobile if he just likes something to look at). Otherwise, I'd probably get a new mobile (with new batteries) rather than have my baby cry non-stop if he misses it.
