I have a friend who makes his own and it is dirt cheap if you can get the beans cheap enough. If you have a coop or some place you can buy them in bulk then it may well be 8p a liter (it's too late at night for me to convert currency AND volume in my head...) but if you're buying them in little sealed bags from Tesco it's probably going to be more.

Frankly if I lived where I could buy So Good soy milk then I'd be getting that, expense be darned ;) That stuff is awesome and I can't find a soymilk in the US that's remotely comparable so I really don't drink as much as I should. And now I'm craving Alpro pudding and custard. Sniff, I miss Tesco :(

we had alpro for dessert last night, sorry to bring it up. We used to live in Australia and the vegan fare is no where near as good as the UK, Our diet has improved in leaps and bounds.
By the way what does the soy milk taste like

It really depends on what you want it to taste like. Straight up it's kind of bland and has that soy aftertaste but most people add a little sweetner or other flavoring to it. It's fine in smoothies, for cooking and so on but for drinking it straight out the glass I'd add a little sugar, maybe a splash of vanilla. Maybe some raspberry Crusha ;) With one of those vegan cherry bakewells from Tesco. If it weren't for Tesco I don't think I'd ever bother flying over to visit my family!

You can make soymilk without a machine, too. Bryanna Clark Grogan has instructions (http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/638376.htm) on her website. That said, if I could afford a machine, I would buy one.
