Hello!
I am so glad to have found this site. My husband and I have been vegetarians for over 5 years. Thanks to some research and insight, our family made the transition to vegan about 6 months ago.
I have a 4 1/2 year old son, and a 9 month old son. I am a breastfeeding educator and full-time mom, my husband is working on his masters in psychology, and he heads the local chapter of the National Organization of Circumcision Information Rescource Center.
We don't know any other vegan parents and are happy to have found this forum!

Welcome! I'm new to this site as well. I was wondering if there is a website to the organization that your husband is part of. I'm having a boy in a few weeks, and though we have decided not to circumcise, I still would like to have more information on the topic.

Thank you! Angie

Hello and welcome Jennifer.

I am also interested in learning more about not circumsizing. Perhaps you or your husband would like to write an article for this site? Email me at info@vegfamily.com if you're interested.

Since you're new, I'll give you the Welcome Spiel.

My name is Erin Pavlina, I'm the Editor of VegFamily magazine. In case you found the forums without finding the mag first, you can access the mag at www.vegfamily.com.

You may also be interested in our playgroup listings if you're looking to hook up with other families in your area.

And finally, I recently published my first book, Raising Vegan Children in a Non-Vegan World. If you are interested in buying the book, go to www.vegfamily.com/raising-vegan-children (http://www.vegfamily.com/raising-vegan-children/index.php?src=forumpost)

Looking forward to talking with you more. You sound very well educated on natural parenting matters.

Hello -- I am just saying welcome, really!

How have your kids handled the transition? I was vegetarian before going vegan and my daughter made the change at age 5 (she is nearly 12 now). I am expecting a second child any day now and plan to raise him vegan so this will be the first time I've raised a child vegan from birth.

Isn't this a great site?

Thank you all for saying hello, and welcoming us.
My oldest son loves being a vegan. He is pretty passionate about several of his beliefs, even though he is only four! I made a book for him called, "I like being a vegan!" I took pictures for it and wrote the text. It turned out great. My youngest is only 9 months old and almost solely breastfed, so he has no clue things have changed. He is 23 pounds and very healthy. Vegan mama's milk does the job, and he is proof!
I plan on writing an article on circumcision this week. Until then you may want to look at the following sites,
www.nocirc.org
www.cirp.org
www.mothersagainstcirc.org
www.noharmm.org
There are many books and videos on the subject of routine infant circumcision. As a vegan, I believe you will have a deeper understanding of the subject. Circumcision involves imposing an unnecessary and painful act on an innocent being. I hope that doesn't sound too opinionated!
I am here to make friends!
Blessings, Jennifer:)
