Hello all! My name is Holly and I am raising my one-year-old-this-Saturday little girl, Mary Kate, as a vegan. Hubby is vegetarian at home, very occasionally eats meat out of the house. He is very supportive at home.

I was so thrilled to find this board! :) We could use all the support we can get!

Why did you decide to go vegan? Was it hard to convince hubby to raise a vegan child or did he think it was a great idea?

I became a vegan after reading several books, including Vegan...the New Ethics of Eating and John Robbins' Food Revolution. I have been veg on and off since high school, and after baby came along, I just knew it was time to transition completely. Hubby is supportive and in his heart knows it
is best for baby, but every once in a while says..."can't she have some cheese???" or something. But he doesn't give her any.

I also have health problems which disappear when I avoid animal products...enough said there!

Experimenting with recipes and having some favorite comfort foods, plus our baby's excellent health and development, shows us all we need to know about what the right choice is for our family.

Hi and welcome!! i also have a husband who is vegetarian at home and occasionally eats meat out but brings milk, cheese and butter home and when he makes grilled cheese the kids want a piece..to not be too rude i allow it since he has given up alot and understands why this is so important, but it is still hard because his values aren't the same is mine and it can be frustrating...i am glad you are doing well!! I just try not to take it too seriously even though i would like to...not always easy, sigh.
