FEBRUARY 20-23, 2003 - 4-DAY WHOLE HEALTH SEMINAR. This event kicks off with a vegan banquet and Howard Lyman (www.madcowboy.com), former cattle rancher-turned-vegetarian, as keynote speaker. Mr. Lyman's most well known appearance was on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996—an appearance that led him to become a co-defendant in a food disparagement lawsuit filed by Texas cattle ranchers. Mr. Lyman has since become a complete vegan and is the founder of Voice for a Viable Future, a non-profit education organization promoting organic family gardening, biodiversity, vegetarianism, environmentally friendly practices and enlightened trade. He has also authored a book entitled, Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won’t Eat Meat. Anyone interested in attending this exciting event can find out more information or register online at www.veganbanquet.com.

Well, have you ever heard it said "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes"? Well, that pretty much describes Portland year around! It could be anything! Generally speaking, though, the winter is grey and wet. Not much in the way of snow in Portland (although it's less than an hour from great skiing on Mt. Hood!) but it does truely rain alot! This year, however, has been especially dry. This morining it was 31 degrees Fahrenheit and frosty but clear and blue! We're hoping the dry weather hangs on (except we could really use more of a snow pack in the mountains so we don't experience a drought this summer!). Hope you decide to experience Portland for yourself, what ever the time of year! For veg restaurants, look at Portland.citysearch.com. :-)

thank you for the info. Joyce!! I hear Portland is an exceptionally beautiful city and well planned. We are in the middle of fixing up a house to sell and although i would love to go the timing is not ideal, May would be better but i will come to the coast one day!! I am actually thinking of moving to Vancouver Is. British Columbia as there is a Waldorf school i am currently checking out as my boys are 2 and 4 and if i don't homeschool then i like what i've heard about Waldorf. I see you own a construction co. we were into cabinetmaking and ran our own business for 5 years b4 moving from the country to the city to try fixer uppers. We will probably do cabinets again as my husband has been a cabinetmaker for over 20 yrs. now and loves it--but we love renovating too as well as we have though of building houses. Shelley:p :p :p: my boy here is having fun with these faces!!!
