I am hoping that I will be able to breastfeed after I give birth. I have had breast surgery and it was through the nipple ( which I have heard could cause problems with breastfeeding) I checked into a breastmilk bank and I can not afford it so if I can not breastfeed I will have to use formula.
Does anyone else use formula and if so what are your favorites ?

Hi Kimberly,
I am actually the person who started the vegan baby formula thread oh so long ago and I cannot believe that my son who I was pregnant with then is almost sixteen months old.
I ended up using Isomil Advanced soy formula by Similac. This ended up being a decision I didn't so much make on my own because my son was born premmaturely and was in neo-natal intensive care. While I could insist on soy formula, I did not push the issue further by insisting on organic, etc. at the time. I have kept him on the Isomil Advanced so as not to confuse his tummy and he did very well on it. I was unable to find vegan soy formulas due to the vitamin D issue, so in the end I did the very best I could and now he's still vegan and transitioning from formula.
So, I say to you that the Isomil worked wonders for my son and I also want to add that I hope you don't feel too badly if you cannot breast feed. I pumped for weeks until finally it became clear nothing would work due to my surgery and/or the premature birth. I hope you can feel good about whatever decision you end up making.
Best wishes for a healthy baby,
Emma

Hi Kimberly,
You mentioned that you couldn't afford buying milk from a milk bank, but there is a website you might check out. It's called MilkShare.com and they facilitate the meeting of milk donors with people who need milk - donors are not allowed to charge for their milk. I personally am a donor and am looking for a family who might need my milk, such as a lactose intolerant baby or a vegan family that wants vegan donor milk. Feel free to pm me if you have questions.
Best wishes to you,
Amber

A pp gave you the link to a formula thread, so I may repeat myself but Farleys Soy formula by Heinz is vegan society certified (D2). You'd have to order it on the web from the uk. I know it's available from www.auravita.com (search for farleys vegan with their global search tool).
It's not organic though, I haven't written to ask if it was free from gmos, I would hope so.
Edit: I visited the formula thread, thanks VeganMacrochick for the recipes, I'm curious about it! My lil lady is old enough for me to try it. Where do you find the liquid calcium/magnesium? Can you order online?
