Has anyone had a problem with baby waking up at night due to a soaked cloth diaper? I really don't want to switch to disposables  at night but I don't know what to do, I check DD's diaper everytime I wake up at night but seems like I always miss one in the middle of the night and she wakes up soaked. Please, help! :p

sorry no help here, I'm trialing bum genius for daytimes at the moment, but DD is mostly in disposables. Not sure how brave I'd be with cloth at night though! She's a heavy night wetter, does a lot of feeding at night you see...

we use the super-thick motherease susie diapers at night with two additional liners. his bum is HUGE! and we still need to change him once during the night (also a big wetter), but we've rarely had any leakages.

i made a mistake. they're not called susie, but sandy. and we use 2 sandy liners. what??? i'm looking through their website and they now have diapers made from bamboo!!!!!!! how fantastic is that?? if you get them and if you get the bamboo, you HAVE to let me know how they are. oh, these things make me so insanely happy.

We use 'sposies at night. I tried various forms of cloth but if the wee man feels the slightest bit wet at night he's up and whining about it and nobody sleeps. You can always use the eco-friendler versions like seventh generation or see if you have any recycling companies working your area if you do resort to 'sposies. Last I checked we didn't have anything like that but I'm 98% sure they exist.

Thank you ladies!!! You've been most helpful. I tried the prefold cotton soakers and guess what... DD stopped peeing at night :D ... but there is a catch... she still wakes up even though she's dry! Is it a habit now? She used to sleep through the night since 6 weeks old, then when she turned 4 mo. she started waking up at night soaked and continued until just recently, now she just wakes up once or twice a night. Will she sleep through the night again? or am I just making this into more than it is. It's just that there is so much fuss about babies sleeping through the night nowadays. Is this ok?

It might just be a phase. DS went through a phase of not wetting at night; his dipe would be dry when he woke up then it would all come out as soon as the cold air hit at the first diaper change. I think he was about 16, 17 months at the time. He's since started peeing at night again though, so much for my hopes that he was going to be an easy night time toilet trainer!
I don't think there's any need for kids to sleep through the night. Eventually they stop needing attention when they wake up and let everyone else sleep anyway. I know DS (2 years and one day old) still wakes up sometimes and I hear him chatting to his bear but then he says "sleepy. Night night cocoa" and settles back down. It's really quite adorable :)

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to change the topic of this thread. I agree, babies have the right to wake up at night just as much as we do. Sometimes I think DD is just thirsty because once she wakes up I nurse and she falls asleep in seconds! It doesn't bother me since we co-sleep, just the opposite, it's quite comforting as much for me, I think, as it is for her. I just don't like people asking all the time "does she sleep through the night yet?" I think I'll just start saying "yes." Well, I really appreciate all the help I got here. It feels wonderful to have a place like this to go to even though people are miles and miles away from each other. :)

We use cloth diapers through the night. It took me a bit of trial and error to find the right system. I looked through alot of post on a cloth diaper site and tried the ones I thought might be best. I finally found a good system. It is only once in a blue moon that our dd will wake up about 5am because her diaper is so wet. Here's the link to what we got http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=70692&vid=491. I am a strict vegetarian, but they look like they should be acceptable for vegans.
As far as waking up. Dd does wake up too, I far as I know doesn't have conversations with the toys, but I hear her moving about readjusting. I remember reading somewhere that like most adults, kids don't really sleep through the night. Some require attention to fall back to sleep and others don't.
