Hi there!
I just wanted to let you all know about a political lobbying group I am trying to set up to help improve welfare laws for animals. Imagine if there were stronger, fairer welfare laws for farmed animals, if there were laws which enabled alternatives to animal testing to be more widely used, if it was illegal to kill animals inhumanely (i.e, lobsters wouldn’t be boiled alive, petit foie gras would be banned etc), if there were laws to stop/ reduce shooting and hunting, laws to reduce overfishing and laws to ensure the welfare of animals used in entertainment such as circuses, racetracks and zoos. How much better would the world be?
It’s free to join, I just need as many members as possible to prove to MPs how important animal welfare is to the general public. And because, there are, unfortunately, many campaigning/ pressure groups that don’t work in the favour of animals. Some farmers, hunters etc put pressure on candidates to agree to these laws and often don’t have politically-minded animal welfare groups to contest with. Sometimes even a candidate who wants to pass a law to help animals, can’t, because he will not win with an anti-animal politically organised group working against him.
Please e-mail me on friends_felix@yahoo.co.uk to become a member or log onto http://www.friendsoffelix.50megs.com for more information.
Thanks so much for all that you do for animals!
