I thought I had found one by Debbie Stewart but she went out of business, so I am looking for suggestions.

I suggest Good Foods Today, Great Kids Tomorrow by Dr Jay Gordon. Its more of an introduction to veganism for all ages..the ins and outs and explains the health benefits for all ages. Also has a couple of recipes.

I am having a dilema. Do I give away books that have non vegan themes in them? I guess I can work with the themes, for example, in "The Hungry Catipillar" he feels sick after he over eats junk food including non vegan things, and feels better after eating a nice green leaf, so I'll keep that one. And a farm animal book, well I can keep that one saying (when he is much older) that on vegan farms people rescue farm animals before others eat them. But what about when a monkey takes eggs out of a bird's nest to take home? get rid of it?

I think I'd like to write a series of books that slightly mention vegetarian themes. but any hoo....

I did buy a book for the future about a boy named Ari who is vegetarian. I will try and find it and let you know the author. It is not for a toddler though. I read about it and had to have Barnes and Noble order it. VM

1. Victor the Vegetarian & Victor's Picnic, by radha vignola;
2. Vegetable Soup/The Fruit Bowl--two books in one!
3. Tucker The Tomato;
4. Old Turtle by Wood/Chee (environmental);
5. Cows are Vegetarian;
6. Herb the Vegetarian Dragon has beautiful art, but its message is more about tolerance for all diets than promoting veg...not too useful if you want to bolster you kid's veg values IMO!
.........all of these are vegan--just poke around on Amazon.com--you'll find more I'm sure! They also have neat bfing books, like "Breastmilk makes my tummy yummy" and another with "mama milk" in the title......
hope this helps.

Also check out the topic of "books for children" on the next page of this forum. I posted this link there, too, but will put it here as well:

It is a free book from Rocky Mountain Animal Defense that you can print out - it explains what a vegan is & why someone would choose to be vegan in simple terms.

Those look good!

It is really hard to find books I like, apart from the animal rights and food issues, I also disapprove of books that heavily feature crying-it-out and sleep training, cribs (we co-sleep), strollers (we sling mostly) and other modern child-rearing paraphernalia. :rolleyes:
