Anyone know if flax seed oil is better for you than flax seed meal. I am trying to lose a few pounds and since flax seed meal (2 tbsp) has less calories/fat than 1 tbsp of flax oil, I thought I'd try it.

By the way, is 2 tbsp flax seed meal adequate for a person weighing 146 pounds?

thanks in advance for your help.

To Blinky:

Everything I've read has said to be cautious about the oil, because it turns rancid so fast.

The flax seed meal also has a limited shelf life, so you need to keep it either refrigerated or in the freezer.

Most places promoting flax seed say to buy the seed in bulk, and grind it yourself.

Also keep in mind that no single food or supplement is a cure-all for weight loss or any other health concern. Flax seeds and their derivatives can be part of a healthy diet, but cannot directly contribute to weight loss.
