Hi everyone
Just a little update on my little boy! Solomon is 6 weeks old now, it has gone so incredibly fast and i'm trying to hold onto each precious moment. Anyway, he just had his 6-week checkup and he is doing great. He now weighs 12lbs,13oz (5.8kg), (at birth he weighed 9lbs, 11oz, or 4.4kg) ,he has also grown 6cm (not sure what that is in inches sorry) and is generally just a big chubby cuddly bundle of love. A very healthy vegan baby:p

That's great. Keep us posted as to his progress. How long does he sleep at night? This is my big concern. I hate being tired. ;)

Erin- I co-sleep with him which keeps both of us from waking up completely at night. He never cries at night, just snuffles around till I latch him on for a feed. We both go to bed at about 10pm and he sleeps for about 4 hours, then after that wakes every 2 hours for a feed. I'm actually waking less than I was when pregnant and getting up for the toilet. But of course I'm way busier and tired now! I really don't feel too bad though. Also, I keep meaning to ask you abotu writing my birth-story, do I submit it to birth-stories, or write it here on the boards, or what?

Send the birthstory to info@vegfamily.com

Can't wait!

I plan to co-sleep with our new baby when he's born, so I hope I can experience what you're experiencing. I was such a mess physically after the birth of Emily that each time she woke to feed I had to attend to my wounds and my hubby would get her ready for me when I got back from my 10 minute trip to the bathroom.

I forget, do you have other children? If so, how are they adjusting and all...

Erin- I have a 6-year-old son and a 4-year old daughter and they are both coping extremely well and have taken it all in their stride. They love their new brother and are wondeful with him, which will be especially great as he grows, they already keep him entertained by talking and singing to him, it's beautiful.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to send my birth story in very soon.:)
ps it's great that you're going to try co-sleeping. We did it with the other two also, until they were 2 and 2 and a half respectively, and it worked well for all of us. I just love snuggling down with my wee baby.

Hi Renee!
Welcome to the boards :)
I also had a homebirth with Solomon, and it was absolutely wonderful. It was such a peaceful entry into the world for our wee man. What was your experience like? How exciting that you are planning to have another baby. We were sure about stopping at 3, but I just adore Solly so much, I can't bear the thought it could be my last baby! I still have quite a few years of childbearing age left to me, so you never know.

Hi Renee
It's funny, we had the same joke going with our midwife, as Lily (my second child) was born after a 4 hour labour, plus we live 45 minutes out of town.I had instructions for what my partner should do if I had the baby before the midwife arrived. As it happened, Solomon was born after a 6 hour labour, so everything turned out perfectly, my midwife came straight out when I got the first contractions so we had lots of time.
Solomon is a big, healthy boy. Unfortunately, he already has his second cold, which he caught from his brother, who caught it from school. Jasper (our first) never got a cold till he was about 2 years old, then he started pre-school and when Lily was born it was winter (as it is now for us, or nearly) and she got quite a few colds in the first year of her life. I was hoping it would be different with Solly. Anyway, he is coping very well with it, I'm hoping his immune system is pretty good!
