It's supposed to "tone" the uterus. I drank it in the last trimester. I was told it can cause contractions. Needless to say I drank it like water while I was WAY over my EDD. A girlfriend of mine took the RRL pills, and drank the tea. She had her baby a week early. Her doula told her to take them to induce labor....I don't know if they really worked, but they didn't hurt. I would say the tea is OK if you drink it in moderation. Maybe a cup a day.

I drank it with my first pregnancy, I too have heard it "tones" the uterus. I drank a cup a day in the third trimester. However, I really dislike the taste! So I never bothered with my second two pregnancies and I can't say it made any difference.

I am drinking it about 1/week with this pregnancy, but I didn't know about it with my first, so who knows? I figure it can't do any harm, so why not drink it and hope that it "tones" my uterus and helps make delivery go smoothly. After a 26 hour labor with my first, and since I'm a little nervous as this will be my first homebirth, why not do everything possible to try to help facilitate as easy a birth as possible, right?

when i drank some a month or so ago, i felt small "contraction like" sensations for about 5 hours. i'm going to meet with my doula in a couple of week & talk to her about drinking it. i want to wait until at least 36 weeks before i start (i'm at 33 now).
