Hi, I'm new here.
I tried going vegan after watching Dr Day's videos, she is an inspiring voice for the reason to avoid meat.

One thing I noticed is that after about 2 months, accidental burns that I'd incur wouldn't heal hardly at all.

After going back to protein in the form of chicken and turkey (for whatever reason), even 1.5 month-old oven rack burns just healed themselves.

Has anyone come across this problem, and did you make a certain adjustment the vegan diet to overcome this?

I'd suggest an evaluation of your diet as Vegan before I'd jump to the conclusion that Vegan=no healing. Since your observation that an increase of protein contributed to a quicker healing time, it would seem that you are not getting sufficient protein.

Nuts, seeds, soymilk, tofu, textured vegetable protein, seitan, and beans are major sources of Vegan diet protein. If your diet consisted mainly of salads, or of French fries, baked potatoes, noodles, or other starches, it might not be a lack of protein but a lack of Vitamin C.

A wide variety of foods and perhaps the addition of a multivitamin supplement should correct any deficiencies you perceive in a Vegan diet.

Thanks VOW, very helpful post. I remember eating protein-rich foods only intermittently on the Vegan diet, and the thing is, also I may have jumped into the diet too quickly after the bad stuff I was consuming just prior.

I'll take your advice. I think I'm going to transition first to Vegetarian and then make the jump.

Steve, there's a good book at the library (or bookstore - LOL) called "Becoming Vegan" by Brenda David, R.D. & Vesanto Melina, M.S., R.D. It has a lot of good information about how much protein, vitamins, minerals you need and where to get them in a vegan diet. I think they also have a book for Vegetarians. Good luck - its a little tricky getting started, but well worth it in the long run:)

Colloidal silver is wonderful in helping heal cuts and scrapes. Its fairly inexpensive if you acquire your own generator and sliver sticks too. :-)

Like suggested..your protein intake must have been low and your body was craving it. With ANY diet change it is best to do all research prior to taking the plunge. Good luck!
