Hi!
I'm trying to conceive - two months have passed and I didn't succeed (I'm 26 and I haven't tried to conceive ever before). The reason of my concern is - can the soy 'act' like birth control pills? I do not consume much soy - only a cup of soymilk on my breakfast cereals and sometimes a soy 'meat' loaf to my lunch, or a little bit soy sauce as a seasoning for the veggie stew..............
Since I have become vegan and consuming soy I do not have any probs with soy - my periods are regular (26 days for years without delays witout too early start with some pain only during the first day), my diggestion system does not protest soy. But there is one thing that seems very similar to the birth control pills' effect - my breast has 'grown' two sizes! No lumps, no sensitive nipples, no probs - only the good nice size. Is it a sign that those plant 'hormones' have taken effect on me????
Maybe my questions seems ridiculous - and I hope that it is so, but please, share your experiece of soy consuming during the time you have tried to conceive - and maybe some hints for success :)
Thank you!

Hi! I am pregnant right now, and it was a planned pregnancy. I was consuming soy as much as I normally do (tofu, soymilk, etc.) and I became pregnant in less than two weeks of trying to concieve. If the soy had anything to do with it, it certainly did not hinder conception! I don't have any tips for success, except to have fun! ;) Take care and good luck!

I doubt the soy is making your breasts bigger. I eat soy on a daily basis, either in the form of milk, tofu, or a meat substitute. I have never experienced that kind of effect, nor have I heard of any sort of thing. As far as concieving goes, I don't think the soy is going to be an issue. Your intake seems minimal as it is. It can take a while to get pregnant. With all that has to be "just right" in order to concieve, it's a wonder how women *ever* get pregnant!! It took me 11 months to concieve my son. Just try to be patient, and continue to eat good. It'll happen:)

I agree, soy won't prevent conception.

Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and you'll shave months off your conception time. The average couple succeeds after one year of trying, but the couple that is charting their fertility conceives in an average of 4 months.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies - it was important for me to hear from other vegans who eat soy products and have sucessfully conceived.
I believe everything will be ok and I'll report on progress :)
