First of all I would like to say Hi as I'm new here.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I decided that we would like to have a child in the next 12 months, so I went of the pill about 5 months ago. My periods have always been regular, every 28 days, even being of the pill. Except for this month. I am now 4 days overdue. I did take a pregnancy test, but that showed negative. I have been having constant pains in my abdomin(which has been going on for 4 days) and also feeling sick, especially after I eat something. My breast are quite sore, more than usual, even at my period. I have also been feeling really bloated, again more than usual.
I'm not sure whether my body is still adjusting to going of the pill and that is the reason for my period being late. But can the pregnancy test be wrong? I'm not sure what to think and I don't want to seem like I'm an idiot when all it is is a late period.
Sorry for the rambling.:D

Read the package insert on your pregnancy test to see how far along you have to be in order for it to detect it. I know there's a minimum - I just can't remember what it is! I had a blood test 10 days after I conceived that showed I wasn't pregnant when I was - they have a minimum too. Good luck!

It seems like you should see a doctor, if you are having constant pains. It would ease your mind, to say the least. You may want to take another pregnancy test, maybe try a diffrent brand. I know EPT has an early test, which you can take 4 days BEFORE you expect your period. Also, be sure to allow enough time for the test to work. When i took one, after the three minutes or so it said to wait, there was no pink line, but after like 10, there was a faint pink line, and the doc confirmed it the next day. Good Luck !

The very FIRST thing you need to do, if you are planning a pregnancy, is to start taking 0.4 mcg folic acid daily. Right now, today, whether you are pregnant or not, get a bottle and start taking it.

Wait a couple more days, and try a different brand of test. If at two weeks' late, your period still hasn't started, see your doctor. If you aren't pregnant, you can find out what is going on. If you are pregnant, you can begin your prenatal care early.

A developing baby is the most vulnerable in the first few months of pregnancy. The sooner you start providing for your child, the healthier the baby will be. This is the time to review your diet, and to begin planning healthy nutrition for the both of you. You also need some strategies on how to cope with possible morning sickness and cravings!

Thanks for your replies. I did take another test it still showed negative, and unfortunately I did get my period on the weekend. I was not expecting to fall pregnant so quickly anyway, I was thinking it would take at least 12 months, since I was on the pill for about 11 years. I'm getting some blood test done this week to check folic acid, B12 etc. Thanks anyway for you thoughts.:)

after going off the pill your cycles can be quire irregular for many months. Even people whose cycles had previously been like clockwork ... It takes time for you body to get back to normal cycles. It also takes some time to start ovulating again so be patient. Good luck!!
