I just wanted to share the insanity of me week and (hopefully) get some assurance from other mamas-to-be that life will indeed calm down some.
Monday: Feeling tired, queasy. Bought pregnancy test
Tuesday: Pregnancy test was positive. I go running into the bedroom at 6am jumping up and down. Turn on the lights and wake up my husband, who though exhausted, handles the exitement well. Call my doctor and get bloodwork done.
Wednesday: Get the results of the bloodwork. We're pregnant! We tell anyone who will listen. His parents begin referring to themselves as grandma and gramps. My parents go out and buy baby stuff.
Thursday: Have some slight spotting and panic. This is our first baby and I'm terrified we're going to lose it. Call the nurse and she makes me even more scared. Go to the doctor and all is well with the baby. Do an ultrasound - name the baby flipper (for now) because that's really all there is at this point is a healthy flipper heartbeat. Doctor orders me on bedrest for Friday. Call work, call parents, cry a lot because I'm scared.
Friday: Bed rest was nice as I'm exhausted. I've never been a very delicate person so it's very strange all of the sudden being waited on. No problems at all today.
Saturday (Today): Beginning to quiet down, still nervous when I go to the bathroom, but all seems okay. Keeping fingers crossed.

Oh wow, I think many of us have been on that wild ride. Once you see the heartbeat all is usually well, though of course there are no guarantees.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. What a very exciting time for you! If you have any questions, we're here for you!

I spotted off and on throughout the first four months of my pregnancy. It is DEFINITELY an emotional roller coaster. You hate to even go pee cause your scared of what you'll see. The bottom line is, if it's meant to be... it'll be fine no matter how much it happens, and if it's not, nature has a way of knowing. The best thing you can do is rest lying down. Not curled in a chair...Lying down flat. If you are put on bed rest again for spotting, do your bed rest with a pillow under your knees clear up to your bottom. Don't give gravity an inch of help.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Hope all remains well for you- such an exciting time, but also can be an emotional rollercoaster with all those hormones rushing around. Take good care of yourself.

Thanks for all of your thoughts. So far so good. I've been resting a lot and we're staying optomistic, hoping for the best. I've been taking prenatal vitamins for the past 6 months and my husband and I are both very healthy vegans so there should be no problems in that arena. I've also been blessed with a veg ob/gyn so that helps too.

No kidding! A veg OB/GYN! That's so great.... at least now every little ache or twinge won't be blamed on your food choice lifestyle. (I hate calling veganism a "diet"... people twist it around sometimes).

This is especially surprising since I'm in West Virginia. When I first went vegan my mother went to the grocery store and told the guy that her daughter was coming in with some of her vegan friends and did they have a section for that type of food. The clerk responded that he didn't know but that he sympathized with how hard it was to feed "foreigners".

That is just too funny! Did he happen to pronounce it "ferr-iners"? Ha ha ha!!!

I had some bleeding at about 10 weeks with my second daughter. They found a blood clot by my cervix & the u/s showed that her placenta had detached a bit. The dr did a blood test & found that my HCG levels were a bit low. They wanted to give me hormone supplements. I chose not to & just to let nature take its course (partially b/c I didn't want to be pg at the time & had been using multiple forms of birth control at the time I got pg, but I digress :)...).

Anyway, at the second u/s 2 weeks later, her placenta had reattached & she is right here with me now dancing & twirling a ribbon in the air. She is just fine with no problems. I am wondering if the dr did check your hormone levels, though & if your cervix was still fully closed. Both might be good things to know. Quite a few women do spot early on & go on to have healthy babies, though. I hope that all turns out well for you!
