My parents live in a typical Florida retirement community ... lots of tennis, golf and nosey elderly neighbours. My mom loves it. My dad is driven nuts by the "biddy-bodies" as he calls them.
I was over at my parents house today helping them with some computer issues when the doorbell rang. My mom answered the door and the woman said, "I saw the car parked in front of your house." I thought for sure she was going to make a stink about me parking in the street. Then I heard, "I saw the bumper stickers. Are you vegetarian?"
So my mom replied, "No. My daughter is. That is her car."
Then I hear the little old lady say, "Is she vegetarian or vegan?"
"Vegetarian, I think." said my mom.
"Oh that's so wonderful. Tell your daughter the bumperstickers are very nice."
And then she left.
Very strange.
I would have talked to her myself but I was under my dad's desk rewiring their network router. It just seemed to be so odd that she'd come to the door to ask. It was way cool that this woman (who I've seen before and she must be 80 if she's a day) thought the stickers were cool and new what a vegan was. Even my mom hasn't figured that out yet!
