It sounds to me like they're pretty important. Some of the easiest ways for us to get our omega-3's are adding ground flax seeds to smoothies, shakes, or applesauce. Walnuts are also a good source of omega-3's.

I've been putting flax oil on my cereal every morning. I put about a tablespoon on top, then add the soymilk and I honestly can't taste to flax.
Oh, and I put some flax oil on top of my son's waffles before adding the syrup and he hasn't noticed a change in taste either.
Just some more ideas for you...

Sprinkle them on salads and in smoothies. They have a pleasant, benign taste.

I Tbsp flax seed oil 2-3 times daily should be enough. I enjoy it in my salad dressing or on organic roll with dinner. Another good product is DHA. Great for the brain! Hope this is helpful.
