cereal - vegan?
right now i am only feeding my son the earth's balance organic rice cereal, but soon my mother-in-law will be watching my son some afternoons and she has gerber cereal at her home... are the other cereals vegan? I see they have all these added vitamins and such... I plan on taking her the earth's balance once she starts watching him, i was just wondering if other brands were vegan....thanks

If you don't like what she'll end up giving him, can't you send some along with him to her house?

Most of them probably are. But you want to avoid the GM ones.
Also watch out for D3. Not vegan.

thanks...probably my best bet is to just make sure my mother in law understand that the food i send along is the only one to feed my son, just in case...thanks again

Besides the cereal possibly not being vegan, it's not organic. Some of the Gerber ceaeal cantains formula, but it says it on the front of the package. I would kindly let her know that you would rather her feed your child what you bring. It's helpful to purchase food for her house, that she can feed to your little one. That way there is no question.
I recently had a problem with my MIL feding my son ambrosia. I didn't know what that was until my son threw it all up at 3:00 in the worning. He was sick for an entire weekend!!! I now have to make her a list of foods that are off limits, and foods that he cannot eat. Not only do we not feed our son Jello, Cool whip and Marshmellows, but we don't give him canned fruit with marichino cherries!!! What a mess!! She felt SOOOO horrible, but now is much more tolerant of my dietary concerns for my child.

yeh...i have told her, and she is pretty good...like she knows obviously once he is old enough he cant have things with gelatin, etc. her son (my husband) has been vegan for over 12 years, its just breaking her of buying the cheaper items and letting her know there is a difference thats hard. i have told her to strictly feed him what i bring over...to make it easier on us all.... thanks for all the suggestions...
i will post a picture of damien below...
