Vegans who smoke

Okay, this is something I just don't understand.

Whether you are a ethical vegan or a health vegan, I don't understand how people rationalize to themselves that this habit is okay.

I understand smoking. I was a smoker for 8 years.

Are there any smokers here?

Enlighten me.
