Veg Survey

Hello, for my parenting class at school i am doing a project on raising vegetarian children (basically if its healthy) and i need vegetarians/vegans to fill out my survey. if you would like to take a few minutes to do so that would be greatly appreciated.if you do, please email it back to punkrockmary182@hotmail.com

3. Why are you a vegetarian? Choose one of the following options (If there is more than one option that applies to you, choose the one that affects you most):

____ Concern for animal welfare
____ Ethical/religion
____ Concern for the environment

4. Were you raised as a vegetarian?
____ Yes ____ No


5. Do you have children? If so, are you raising them as vegetarians? If you plan to have children in the future, would you? (Basically, is raising veggie kids a good idea)

6. a) If you answered ‘yes’ to question number 5, rank these possible reasons from 1-4, 1 being the largest reason and 4 being the smallest:

____ Because I, myself, am a vegetarian
____ Due to the health benefits
____ I want them to be concerned about the environment and the treatment of animals and I want them to develop healthy eating habits early in life
____ Due to possible psychological benefits (i.e. the child may develop a deeper understanding of why violence is wrong)

b) If you answered ‘no’ to question number 5, rank these possible reasons from 1-4, 1 being largest reason and 4 being the smallest:

____ Vegetarian food is too expensive and I do not feel that the chances of my child liking it is high
____ My spouse/family does not agree with vegetarianism
____ I do not want to impose my values onto my child
____ I am waiting until my children are old enough to make decisions for themselves, then I will allow them to decide whether to convert to vegetarianism or not

I did the survey. One thing I noted was that there wasn't any space for comments. While these are harder to code, they give the people filling out the survey a chance to clarify something that they weren't able to given a limited choice. Good questions, though!
