anyone else have false labor?

I have just been through an extended night of it. Seems to have gone away now. This did not happen with my first child so it has taken me by surprise. (I have technically another 4 weeks to go.)

I had contractions every 10-12 minutes for a few hours -- then they slowed down to once an hour or once every half hour.

It's so frustrating not knowing whether it's the real thing or not! Especially when you have an older child who will have to be taken elsewhere and you don't want to get her up in the middle of the night.

Now I'm supposed to do nothing all day to keep it slow...

I would take it very easy. Drink lots of fluids.

I thought I read once that Braxton Hicks will go away if you drink water and lie down, but if it's real contractions they won't go away when you do that.

Keep that baby in there a few weeks longer!

I haven't had false labour but I was sure I was going to to, because everyone I talked to seemed to have experienced it!
One of my best friends had false labours on and off for 5 days! She was giving birth at a birthing centre and lived out of town 45 minutes away, so kept having to make the trip, it got very tiring and frustrating. I hope things have settled down for you. At least you know that it's safe to give birth from now on, good luck!
