Why NOT???

I spotted this article on MSN this morning...

http://content.health.msn.com/conten...e/71/81182.htm

Basically it states (again) that animal fats and dairy increase cancer risks.

I quote:

"The increase was most closely linked with animal fat -- specifically from animal fat -- and, more specifically, red meat and high-fat dairy foods."

"Cooked red meat contains carcinogens, and high-fat dairy may contain fat-soluble hormones that may increase risk."

"... study shows that animal fat makes "makes enough difference that it matters," "

NOW...... they basically tell you that eating meat and dairy is not good, etc.... so why on earth would they add the comment "... this combined with heart-healthy issues, is enough to recommend that a low-fat, high-fiber diet is a good thing -- not a vegetarian diet..."

WHY NOT A VEGETARIAN DIET???? Are these people so blind to read their own suggestions and studies?

Well, it's still proves another plus for becoming vegan.... and another reason to kick the meat habit.

Regards,

EricP

People just don't want to stop eating things that they like. There was a discussion going on in a vegetarian parents list that I belong to re toxins in breast milk. I posted how studies have shown that vegan women have the lowest amount of pesticides, etc in their breast milk & got blasted from the vegetarians (non-vegans) about how it isn't a vegetarian issue at all -it is just about eating organic, etc.

I agree that organic helps, but there are actual studies that found being vegan is significantly helpful. I just dropped it b/c it is obvious that people just don't want to change their habits & I don't want to get myself too ticked...

You would think that researchers would know better in the article that you quoted, though.

Christa, maybe they have forgotten about all the 'garbage' that ends up in dairy foods. I would think that vegan is less toxic, and agree that organic does help.

You pretty much summed it up, Eric!
"Are these people so blind to read their own suggestions and studies?"

Take care!
