Question:I may be traveling to India in around four months, and I'll be staying out there for six. Are the vaccines I need vegan? Are there any alternatives to vaccination?Answer:Many people come to me seeking homeopathic alternatives to travel related vaccines. Although there is much literature on the subject from the homeopathic medical community, there is no scientific research that states the remedies are as successful as the vaccines in preventing the illnesses. This information is explained to patients. If you are going to a country that requires the vaccine, there is no way around it, the vaccine must be given. Many of my patients who are going to countries where there are certain vaccines suggested and not required, have chosen not to vaccinate at all. That is certainly a personal choice. Before a patient visits their homeopath for advice on remedies to take for travel, the patient must do his or her homework. If going to India, research what illnesses are prevalent in the region of travel. With that information you are then ready to visit the homeopath and remedies can be given as a preventive and in symptoms arise. The most common travel related illnesses that I prescribe remedies for as a prevention include: malaria, hepatitis A & B, tetanus, polio, cholera, typhoid and traveler's diarrhea. Erin's Note: Most vaccines are NOT vegan. |
