Question:

I scored a 139 on my 1 hour glucose tolerance test. My doctor wants me to take the 3 hour test but I'd really rather not. Am I risking a lot or do you think this is okay?

Answer:

Diabetes in late pregnancy carries a nasty incidence of unexpected intrauterine fetal demise (the babies tend to die suddenly around the 38-40 week mark). If a woman is diabetic during pregnancy, she should know about it to assure that the baby is delivered in a timely manner...
