Product ReviewsAmy's Roasted Vegetable Pizzawww.amys.com Review by Erin Pavlina Don't you hate passing by the pizza section in the frozen food aisle of the grocery store? There are so many companies making frozen pizzas, but they're all covered with cheese and meat. Lately I've been seeing the really interesting gourmet pizzas; barbecue chicken this and thai peanut sauce that. Why can't someone make a vegan version of these gourmet pizzas so we vegan moms can have the convenience of easily feeding our kids vegan pizza at home?
Someone has. Article continues below Amy's Kitchen has designed a frozen, cheeseless, roasted vegetable pizza that is simply heavenly! Topped with marinated organic shiitake mushrooms, roasted red peppers, sweet onions and marinated artichoke hearts, in a sauce whose nature I can't quite discern (but is not marinara), this pizza is a gourmet delight! And this is a large pizza! Okay, it wouldn't feed a family of four, but it will definitely feed two people if you add a salad. Sometimes I'll make the pizza, eat half, and eat the rest in the morning for breakfast -- cold! It's so delicious hot or cold. I often take this pizza with me to family functions when I know they're not serving anything I'd be interested in. At our playgroups, we moms often make one of these pizzas and cut it into little pieces for the kids. We're hard-pressed to keep our hands off it though! If your store doesn't carry this product, ask them for it. It's a real treat for vegans seeking the gourmet pizza experience. |
